Introduction of New Services 2012

Egg Freezing Service

SEFC is planning to introduce a new service to enable women to choose to freeze their eggs for use in the future.  Women are increasingly finding that they are not ready for a family during the years when their own eggs are of an optimal quality.  This can result in many women having to seek fertility treatment later in life when their circumstances may be better, but the quality of their eggs has deteriorated. There are blood tests (AMH/FSH) which can be help to determine the likelihood of ovarian activity in the foreseeable future, but does not offer any guarantees.

As a 'Plan B' more women are opting to freeze eggs before they reach the age of 36 years old providing them with an opportunity to use these eggs to create their own biological children when they are older and feel ready to start their family.  Improved freezing and thawing techniques in the last few years have resulted in the increased successful outcome of treatment and babies born to these mothers.

Look out for more details in the New Year of a launch date for this exciting service.

Reproductive Immunology Services

There have been a number of studies which investigate the links between repeated failures of conception (natural and through IVF treatments), early miscarraige and the response of the female immune system.  In order to provide address these issues, we are launchiing this Reproductive Immunology Service to investigate and treat patients who are most at risk.

Your doctor will be able to provide you with details of our screening for natural killer cells and other known indicators of unusual immune behaviour.  For those patients who could benefit from immunotherapy, we will offer this service at Amberley House from 3rd January 2012.

Look out for more details in our Investigations and Treatments window nearer the time.

Charity Fundraising

Final Total of Charity Fundraising 2011

We are proud to celebrate a fantastic year of fundraising activities by staff and their families at SEFC.  We have been able to donate £2240.45 to BLISS to help their fantastic work in support of babies.  Particular thanks go to Danielle whose enthusiasm spurred us all on and to Darren who topped the fundraising leader-board by collecting over £1000 from sponsors.  Thank you to everyone involved.

Tunbridge Wells 10K Run September 2011

Once again our budding athletes have been pounding the pavements in support of BLISS. Julie Wood & Michael Rimington beat their personal best from last years 10K run and were joined by some of their colleagues Mark Wilcox, Laura Sparks and Darren Morris(staff members husband).

Collectively they raised the grand sum of £1,184.43.  Well done

Silent Auction 2011

At SEFC our recent fundraising efforts in support of Bliss have been exceeding even our own expectations; a recent silent auction amongst staff and colleagues saw an amazing grand total of £605 raised!!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local businesses and organisations that kindly supported this recent charity work with the generous contributions:

Tunbridge Wells 10K Run September 2010

Amongst other fundraising activities for BLISS this year, Julie Wood ran in the 10K Tunbridge Wells Run, as did Michael Rimington.  Both were pleased with their respective times, achieving their personal target times.  A sweepstake at the Clinic raised over £50.00 for BLISS with a modest prize for the staff winner!

We will be undertaking a number of other charity fundraising activities this year including a name-the-baby competition, clothes and accessories sale and a surprise Children in Need event!  Watch here for further photos and news.

Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon February 2010

One of our newest members of staff, Julie Wood, has been training like fury to compete in this year's Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon.  This will be the first time she has attempted the gruelling run to fundraise for her chosen charity Kokobiriko, a children's school in Ghana. All the staff at the Clinic wish her the very best of luck!  All donations very much welcomed via the Just Giving website www.JustGiving.com/JWoodHalfMarathon

Demelza Challenge April 2009

Four teams of staff have accepted the Demelza Challenge to wear pedometers to record the number of steps we take during our busy week.  As you might imagine, having several staff members who run for fun and a two-storey Clinic without a lift, we are hoping to exceed the average 10,000 steps per day.  Already we have taken to walking at lunchtimes and, where possible, increasing the walking distance to and from home rather than driving. All proceeds from sponsorship and fund raising will be donated to Demelza as we continue to support their fantastic work throughout 2009.

Amsterdam Marathon 19th October 2008

Michael Rimington and training buddy Scott Richardson successfully completed the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday 19th October, beating their individual personal bests.  As part of the Clinic's fundraising efforts for Demelza Hospice, Michael has secured some sponsorship from key suppliers, but is asking for further help from anyone willing to contribute!  We all know Michael is a determined and dynamic individual and has been training hard after a busy day in the Clinic.

Leeds Castle Charity Run 14th September 2008

“South East Fertility Clinic entered a team of 13 runners and walkers into the Demelza Charity Run held at Leeds Castle on Sunday 14th September.  Staff at this Tunbridge Wells based fertility clinic chose to support Demelza because the charity provides local children and families with much needed support and care in difficult times. “Our staff feel passionately about families and spend their working lives trying to help couples achieve their dreams” said Clinic Manager, Ruth Hardy.  “I am so proud of all of our Team of athletes!  Even those who couldn’t compete have supported the cause by sponsoring us and cheering us on!  The owners and Consultant Fertility Specialists, Mark Wilcox and Michael Rimington, both completed the 10k race and another member of the team, Scott Richardson, was the 10k Winner!  Even my 9 year old daughter, Eloise, finished the 5k and was particularly moved by the commitment shown by all the people wearing ‘In Memory Of’ T-shirts”.
